The Government of Indonesia ratified the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) through Law Number 19 of 2011. This convention aims to guarantee the human rights of persons with disabilities, ensuring they can participate equally, live independently, and be free from discrimination and isolation. Every person with a disability has the same rights as other citizens, including access to justice. Therefore, since 2022, OHANA has initiated the OHANA Law Center (OLC) to support the fulfillment of these rights.
With support from Women’s Fund Asia (WFA), OHANA continues to strengthen the rights of women and girls with disabilities in efforts to eliminate all forms of violence. In collaboration with PERADI Sleman Yogyakarta, OHANA has established a group of local community representatives who play a key role in advocating for the rights of persons with disabilities and preventing and addressing gender-based violence.
This group is known as paralegals, consisting of women with disabilities and parents of children with disabilities. They receive legal training to provide assistance and support to victims of violence, especially women and girls with disabilities.
Furthermore, OHANA Legal Center (OLC) collaborates with PERADI Sleman to provide free legal aid (pro bono) for women and girls with disabilities who are victims of violence in Yogyakarta Province. Through this initiative, OHANA is committed to ensuring that every woman and girl with a disability has access to justice and proper legal protection.
